TGMA needs a dance category – Quables advocates

Ghanaian talent manager and CEO of DWP Academy, Quables, is advocating for the introduction of a dance category in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

He believes that despite the significant role dancers and choreographers play in promoting music, they are often overlooked in major award schemes.

As a prominent figure in Ghana’s dance industry, Quables emphasized the importance of dance in the music scene. Speaking at the 26th TGMA nominees’ announcement on Saturday, March 15, 2025, he highlighted the necessity of recognizing dancers.

“There are so many dance groups and individuals excelling in the industry, and our contribution is undeniable. Dance plays a crucial role in making songs go global. While music can succeed without it, dance remains a powerful promotional tool, just like videographers, producers, and directors. I believe a dance category should be introduced next year—that’s my main request,” he stated.

The growing influence of social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram has further amplified the role of dance in music promotion, with viral dance challenges helping songs gain international traction.

Many industry professionals have also expressed support for this proposal.
